Welcome to Painswick Visitors' guide
|
The Cotswolds is an area of outstanding natural beauty. With its gently rolling hills, stone walls criss-crossing the picturesque landscape, hidden valleys and distinctive market towns and villages, it’s a place to stay a while, relax and unwind.
Painswick is one of the gems of the Cotswolds and is often referred to as ‘The Queen of the Cotswolds’ due to its fine buildings of pale grey limestone. The elegant spire and striking churchyard at St Mary’s Church built in the 15th and 16th Century are the focus of this distinctive village. Legend says that every time a hundredth tree is planted in the churchyard it dies.
So, whether you’re visiting the Cotswolds for its stone villages, historic market towns or outstanding countryside your guaranteed to find welcoming places to stay and friendly country pubs to visit.
